| Ask The Experts |
| Q. I'm trying to sort out a group of 16 for a ski trip in January, and it's turning into a nightmare. Any suggestions? |
A. Planning a ski holiday for a large group is always going to require a certain amount of patience and diplomacy, but the end result will be worth it.
As chief organiser, firstly take into consideration each individual's needs and wants and then make the final resort and accommodation decision yourself. This saves a lot of time and hassle.
However, don't take the decision lightly. If you're an experienced skier, travelling with 15 beginners, then don't head to a resort with 80% red and black runs. A good all-rounder would be best, unless you're all of a specific standard. Visit the Resort Guide to identify the best one for your group.
Once decided, get all costs together and send out an email to the group detailing as much as possible. Include when, where, who with, what you get for your money, and the extras you'll have to pay for in resort when you get there.
Give a date for final names and deposits. Make sure you get these, as you don't want to be held responsible for those who drop out.
Other points to consider: some tour operators do great group discounts and early booking offers. It's never too early to plan your trip.
Skiclub.co.uk has hundreds of tour operators and ski accommodation offering discounts. Make this your first port of call, then head to the Info & Advice section for more advice on your holidays and travel. |
