Well, thank heavens for that: winter is on the way back to the Alps. At the moment, we're expecting it to arrive on Tuesday, when temperatures are set to plummet and two days of heavy snow are expected. What's more, it should be snowing right down into the valleys, as well as on the peaks.
It won't be a moment too soon. Last weekend, record-breaking temperatures brought a sudden and heavy thaw to many resorts, pretty much ruining the snow on the lower slopes, and now we've got rain to contend with below 2000m, which will only be making things worse.
Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, the western resorts of America continue to have an epic season. At the beginning of last week, Mammoth in California picked up 86cm of fresh snow, while Jackson Hole got 60cm.
