It's that time of year again. The leaves are changing, the animals are getting ready for winter and skiers and boarders are counting the days until they can hit the slopes again. Here at Big White and Silver Star, we are on the eve of taking our annual discounted early bird season pass sale on the road. The Silver Star crew is just putting the finishing touches on their set up at Picadilly Mall in Salmon Arm.
Our dedicated sales crew will be in the lovely Shuswap from Sept. 12 to 14 before we make our way back to Vernon and Kelowna next week. Both Big White and Silver Star will be back at it again from Sept. 16 to 21, as we close out the discounted early bird season pass sale. You can visit us in either the Orchard Park Mall in Kelowna or Village Green Mall in Vernon and pick up your pass.
Can't make it to the mall? Go online and purchase before Sept. 21 and you are automatically entered to win a 32 G iPod touch.

1. Tis the Season Pass Sale
 Time is running out for you to purchase your discounted early bird season pass for Silver Star and Big White. Sept. 21 is the end of our sale. But fear not, loyal pass holders, we are bringing the show to you. We are on the road again, starting this weekend in Salmon Arm at the Picadilly Place Mall from Sept. 12 to 14.
Less than a week later we are at the Village Green Mall in Vernon and the Orchard Park Mall in Kelowna from Sept. 16 to 21.
If you can't make it to the mall, there is still time to visit us online. Purchase your pass through our eStore and you automatically qualify to win a 32 G iPod touch.

2. Big White Extends Season
 Our season pass holders spoke, and we listened.
No need to worry about which resort opens first this year. With a season pass to either resort you will be able to ski/ride at the other mountain for free if your home mountain has yet to open. But that's not all the good news. This offer is also valid at the end of the season should one resort close before the other. Big White is currently scheduled (based on conditions) to stay open until April 19, one week after Silver Star closes.
With the new policy Silver Star pass holders will be able to spring ski at Big White for free from April 13 to April 19.

3. Norm Kreutz Back at Silver Star
 It was like he never left. Norm Kreutz, the longtime director of Silver Star's Snowsport School who left at the conclusion of the 2007/08, has decided to come back this year.
"The more things change the more they remain the same," chuckled Kreutz, who has more than 30 years teaching experience and is considered by industry experts to be one of the best instructors in Canada. "I used the summer to gauge my options and try a new venture, but found my heart is with the Snowsport School."
Norm returns to action October 1.

4. Groomed for Success
 The times they are a changin'. Weather patterns, especially at the beginning of the ski season, have changed over the past decade. That was evident last season at Silver Star as the traditionally wet, heavy snow that blankets the mountain never came. The season started with our light, dry champagne powder and some runs were difficult to ski because they weren't part of the summer grooming schedule.
But at Big White and Silver Star, we've changed with the times. This season Silver Star has embarked on its most extensive summer grooming program to date. With an expanded slashing crew and some fancy new mowers, we've challenged ourselves to groom all 115 runs.
At Big White summer grooming has consisted of more than 60 runs, as well as extensive brush cutting and the removal of downed trees, rocks and other obstacles.
We know personal hygiene is important, and so is the grooming of our runs. Let's keep it clean, people!
